Tatiana has honed her genetic gifts to perfection. She can withstand the subzero temperatures of the Northern Waste, read somebody's mind with the briefest touch, and slice through bone with her bare hands. Which makes her one badass chick, all right. Nothing gets to her. Until she meets Tristan. Villain or ally, she can't be sure. But one thing she does know: he has gifts too-including the ability to ramp up her heart rate to dangerous levels. But before they can start some chemistry of their own, they have to survive being trapped in an underground lab, hunted by a madman, and exposed to a plague that could destroy mankind.

Eve Kenin FAQs

Why do you write under two names?
I started out writing historical gothics under the name Eve Silver. When I branched into contemporary paranormals I opted to use the same name because there were certain similarities such as the suspense flavor and the dark tone and I hoped that readers might enjoy both genres despite the differences in time period. Then came DRIVEN, a post-apocalyptic trans-Siberian trucker tale, and I was advised by my agent and editor to take a second name. I agonized over that, but in the end, I decided to follow their advice and write my futuristic books as "Eve Kenin". Given that I would be writing three subgenres for three publishers, issues of scheduling same-name books could be problematic. Moreover, speculative romance as a genre is not as established as historicals and paranormals. I didn't want to alienate existing readers by throwing an "Eve Silver" book at them that was about truckers and deadly ice pirates. While I hope my "Eve Silver" readers will give my "Eve Kenin" books a try (and vice versa), I separated the names to be as honest as possible about what the reader was getting.

Why the name
"Eve Kenin"?

I kept imagining myself at a public event with someone addressing me by a different first name, and me just staring at them in blank confusion. So I knew that I wanted my first name to remain unchanged. That left the decision of the last name. I wanted something short, punchy and unique. I considered a bunch of options, including my kids' names or my husband's name. But hubby's name was too long, so I shortened it, added a hard consonant sound at the front because I thought that would give the word an "action" feel, and I ended up with "Kenin".

What is a kick-butt heroine, and do your "Eve Kenin" books have them?
A kick-butt heroine is one who can handle absolutely anything that is shoved at her. Not that it's easy for her, but she'll find a way to handle it. Her physical strength is only part of the package, though. In addition to her ability to take care of herself, she has incredible mental acuity and strength of character, traits which allow her to face the most difficult challenges. She has failings, too, human weaknesses and hidden frailties that make her all the more appealing. Raina and Tatiana, the heroines of DRIVEN and HIDDEN, both fall under this umbrella. At one point in HIDDEN, Tatiana is described as a combination of "waif and warrior", and I think that says it all.

How do you define speculative romance?
Speculative romance is a melding of numerous genres: romance, sci-fi, fantasy, paranormal, cyberpunk, action/adventure, horror, post-apocalyptic, alternate reality...you name it. These books are hybrids that offer the reader an opportunity to explore elements of a variety of genres.
